Your eBay Feedback Score
By Caroline Thompson
Simply put, “Feedback” is a statement that is made after an eBay transaction is finalized. This can be from a buyer or a seller. Your “Feedback Score” is the total number of statements that a buyer or seller receives. The goal, of course, is to have good or “Positive “ Feedback. Sellers are proud of their high ratings and can encourage bidders, with a link, to read their member profile and look at all of the Feedback.
Buyer Problems
When all is done correctly, and 100 percent customer satisfaction is expected, you may still encounter an overly demanding, cranky buyer. This is just a fact of life. To prevent the situation from getting out of hand, think about how to correct the problem and offer a solution as soon as possible.
If he says he did not receive the package, provide the shipper’s confirmation of delivery. If you sold a shirt, and the buyer says it has a missing button, and you did not notice the defect before shipping, offer a refund if it is returned. In any case, be sure to tell your side of the issue on your Feedback profile and how it ended. Remember to deal in facts, just facts, not emotion or salty adjectives.
Why Good FeedBack is Important
In learning how to sell on eBay, the importance of a high eBay Feedback score can’t be under estimated. This is the gauge that is used in order to find reputable sellers. There is usually a choice of auctions when a search is being conducted for a particular item. A buyer wants to be sure that the person she deals with is competent and honest. One way to determine this is to review the Feedback score; hence, more customers come your way when you have a high score.
Does the buyer know what your policy is? If a buyer understands that you have every intention of making things right, a little problem may not develop into a big problem. The use of “100% satisfaction guaranteed” or “full refund if not satisfied” is something to consider. To make this as obvious as possible, your policy should be on the “About Me” page, a note sent with your package and add a line to your emails.
Negative eBay Feedback is to be avoided and Positive Feedback is to be praised. So be sure to respond with your positive remarks whenever possible. After all, making money on eBay is your goal, isn’t it?
