Organic products are popping up everywhere these days. There are specific regulations out there when it comes to the requirements for putting the organic label on products. When something is organic this means it is grown in such as way that is good for the earth and all who live here. You can now find organic food at every major grocery store. This availability is the result of consumer demand.
Many of us choose organic to protect our health. People who buy organic are often concerned with the health of the environment as well as the health of their family. Buying organic is part of a commitment to a healthier world. We have learned slowly about the importance of organic food and the dangers of chemicals used in food production. The awareness of the importance of organic clothing is fairly new. Cotton is the biggest crop out there when it comes to the production of clothing. Since cotton is not produced for food there is less regulation of the chemicals used in growing and harvesting it.
There are many different chemicals used to grow cotton that go into our water and impact other crops used for food. There is also little concern about the safety of farmers exposed to hazardous chemicals when cotton is growing and harvested. It has been estimated that a pound fertilizer used to create a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. The process of turning raw cotton into clothing often uses several other hazardous chemicals.
Now consider the soft and delicate skin that a new baby has. The skin of a baby is more fragile than an adult’s and absorbs things easily. This means that baby’s are at a greater risk when placed in clothing made using hazardous chemicals. When you put your children in organic clothing you will reduce the amount of harmful chemicals they are exposed to. Safe and sustainable farming methods are used to produce the cotton used in organic clothing. This means a healthier earth as well as a healthier baby. Choosing organic baby clothes is making a positive impact on your children and the world.
