By now you should be mostly sold out of the odds and ends kicking around your house. Now you need to be searching for products to buy and list. You should know how to use the completed item research tool, and it will be your best friend when going out and hunting for deals.
Now is where you go inventory hunting at outlet malls and other storefronts. You want to find inventory from stores that are clearing out items. Stores that already have discounted prices such as outlet malls, Ross, Marshalls, Nordstrom Rack and TJ Maxx are great stores to hit when sales are on. Bring a pen and paper to write down deals, and take quick pics of the items if you have a camera phone. Right now, you’re just checking to see what’s out there. Having a good feel of eBay Pulse will also give you a good idea for what to start looking for.
Take home the list of deals you found and sort out which ones are good and which ones are bad. Do some completed item research on eBay to see which items are selling and at what price. Once you have found out which ones look profitable to sell (after listing fees), head back and grab the items you want to start listing.
Buy multiples of the profitable items if possible. Selling multiples of an item you only have to list once makes you more money and saves you time.
Can this be profitable or is it just a waste of time? Doing this same strategy we found a $9 pair of jeans at Marshalls and sold them on eBay for $100.
It doesn’t take very long to see what you can sell on eBay for a profit after a few trips to the store. If you want to take some old clearance inventory off their hands, develop some relationships with the store managers. If the items still sell well on eBay, its worth your time, and usually they are more than happy to have you clear out their old stock.
